Repair, restoration and new construction in flint.
All of our work is in knapped flint and hot lime mortar, with the brick and stone that goes with it.
Existing walls
Repair & restoration
Flint walls fail in familiar ways — mortar weathers out, copings lift, sections bulge or collapse. Repaired in the right materials, a wall goes on doing its job.
- Flint wall repair
- Making good damaged or failed sections of an existing flint wall, matching the original flint, coursing and mortar.
- Flint wall restoration
- Bringing a tired or neglected wall back to sound condition along its length, rather than patching one failure at a time.
- Lime repointing
- Raking out weathered or unsuitable mortar and repointing in lime — the mortar flint walls were built with.
- Coping repairs
- Repairing the brick, stone or flint coping that keeps the weather out of the top of a wall.
- Coping rebedding
- Lifting loose or displaced copings and rebedding them in lime mortar.
- Insurance-related repairs
- Repair work arising from an insurance claim, such as vehicle impact or storm damage.
New walls
New construction
New flint walls built the traditional way — knapped flint, laid to course in hot lime mortar, with brick or stone dressings where the wall turns a corner, meets a pier or frames an opening.
- New flint wall construction
- Boundary walls, garden walls, piers and gateways in knapped flint with brick or stone dressings.
- Flint and concrete block supply and fit
- Supply and fitting of flint-faced concrete block where a blockwork wall wants a flint face.
With the flint
Brickwork & stonework
Flint walls are rarely flint alone. Brick quoins, piers, arches and copings, and stone caps and dressings, are part of the same wall — and part of the same job.
- Brickwork
- Quoins, piers, arches, copings and bands in brick, built or repaired alongside the flint.
- Stonework
- Stone caps, dressings and repairs where a wall uses stone with its flint.
